Meghan M. Teigen

Meghan is a partner with the law firm of Johnson Teigen, LLC, where she practices in the areas of estate planning, special needs planning, elder law, and probate and trust administration. Prior to joining private practice, Meghan was the Associate Executive Director and attorney trust advisor with Wispact, Inc, a Wisconsin non-profit organization that manages pooled and third party special needs trusts.  Prior to that, Meghan worked with the Greater Wisconsin Agency on Aging Resources, providing legal support and supervision to benefit specialists and consumers through Wisconsin’s Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRCs).  Attorney Teigen is named among the Best Lawyers in America (R) for 2021 in the practice area of Elder Law.

Meghan is active with numerous professional and community organizations by serving on boards and chairing committees. She is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) where she serves Co-Chair of Special Needs Trust Steering Committee. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Madison Estate Council, The Wisconsin State Bar’s Elder Law and Special Needs Planning Section, and the Arc-Dane County.

She is a frequent speaker to individuals, families, and professionals throughout Wisconsin on important issues related to estate planning, special needs trusts, and long-term care planning for older adults and individuals with disabilities. Meghan received her Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law, Chicago, IL and Bachelor of Arts in journalism and history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison

 

Mark T. Johnson

Mark T. Johnson is a partner with the law firm of Johnson Teigen, LLC where he practices in the areas of estate planning, probate and trust administration, elder law, special needs law, and real estate.   Mark is a certified elder law attorney (CELA), as conferred by the National Elder Law Foundation, and as recognized by the American Bar Association for specialty certification.  He is a member of the Special Needs Alliance, a national, invitation-only organization of attorneys committed to helping individuals with disabilities and their families.  He is the immediate past president of the Wisconsin Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.  Attorney Johnson is named among the Best Lawyers in America (R) for 2021 in the practice areas of Elder Law and Trusts and Estates, and the publication also named him the 2021 Lawyer of the Year in Elder Law for the Madison area.

Mark has published articles in the Wisconsin Law Review, Wisconsin Lawyer, Elder Law and Special Needs Journal of Wisconsin, NAELA News, and the Voice (the online newsletter of the Special Needs Alliance).  In addition, he has contributed to various publications of the State Bar of Wisconsin on topics related to estate planning and elder law.

He also presents regularly to general and professional audiences regarding estates, trusts, long-term care planning, and special needs planning. Mark received his Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin Law School, with honors, a Master of Arts from the University of Notre Dame, and Bachelor of Music from St. Olaf College.
